Our Story

Considering the effects of global warming, it is important to be conscious of the temperature by using a folding fans that uses environmentally friendly natural materials.
By increasing the number of individuals who are conscious of controlling global warming, even if it is a small effort for the time being, it will lead to contributing to the mitigation of global warming.

To achieve this, we've embarked on a project that blends traditional folding fans with contemporary digital photography. This combination of age-old traditions and modern artistic expression has resulted in the creation of innovative artworks. Our ultimate goal is for this project to resonate and spread across the globe, resonating with people from different walks of life.

With each folding fans , we're aiming to evoke a sense of appreciation for our planet's well-being. The elegant imagery, captured through digital photography, serves as a visual reminder of the beauty of nature and the importance of sustainability. We believe that this project, by fusing traditional craftsmanship and modern creativity, can ignite a universal understanding and passion for safeguarding our Earth.

What is Kyo-sensu?
Kyoto folding fans, known as "Kyoto Sensu," are domestically produced fans primarily crafted in Kyoto and Shiga, with the fan faces, frames, and delicate finishing work all originating from these regions.
The exclusive usage of the name "Kyoto Sensu" is limited to members of the Kyoto Fan Commercial and Industrial Cooperative Association.
Crafting a single folding fan involves approximately 88 meticulous steps, encompassing everything from creating the base and decorative paper to lacquering and assembly.
With a history spanning 1,200 years, Kyoto folding fans fuse culture and aesthetics, enriching the lives of the Japanese people with coolness and vibrant colors, even in conjunction with modern fashion trends.

Hidenobu Suzuki profile
he was born in Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, and grew up in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Possessing a lifelong affinity for painting, he ventured into digital photography in 2013.
Alongside his photography pursuits, he has been an active hairstylist since 1991 and currently manages the beauty salon "lietratte" in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. His works have garnered high acclaim on platforms such as National Geographic and LensCulture, expanding his recognition, particularly in prominent online media outlets and overseas. In 2016, he was invited to participate in a salon exhibition held at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, organized by an esteemed French art group with over 150 years of history, where he received a gold award.
His achievements have brought attention not only from the photography community but also the broader art sphere.

The French National Society of Fine Arts is one of the five historical organizations dedicated to the creation and preservation of French art history.
Boasting a history of over 150 years, the society has long been at the core of supporting French art.
Past members include renowned artists such as Marc Chagall, Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Auguste Rodin, Pablo Picasso, Auguste Renoir, Seihō Takeuchi, Tsuguharu Foujita, and Taikan Yokoyama.
